CoinMarketCap loses CEO Carylyne Chan and two VPs

The popular crypto market data website CMC is losing its chief strategy officer Carylyne Chan as well as Jeremy Seow and Spencer Yang from its senior staff.

Chan has been with CMC for over two years and just in April assumed the role as interim CEO after Binance acquired the well-known website. Her colleague Seow worked as VP of Product since June 2017 and Yang, VP of Operations, joined at the same time.

At the moment the reason for their departures and whether they have found new opportunities in the cryptocurrency sector are not known. Chan played an important role for CMC even before her short stint as CEO of the site, as she has personally hired and trained over a quarter of the current staff. In an interview with Cointelegraph she stated her hopes that CoinMarketCap will in the future assume a more prominent role in cryptocurrency education for new investors and continue to put more scrutiny on cryptocurrency projects to drive more transparency.

Cointelegraph also reached out to CMC to inquire whether the company has already found replacements for the three senior staff members and received the response that an update on this will be shared soon.

A big question right now is whether Binance will now integrate CMC more tightly into its structure or whether the site will retain its relative independence.
